The jail
The Cadeia da Relação building, in Porto, was built in the XVIII century to house the city jail. Despite the degrading conditions in which most prisoners were held, it served that purpose until the 1974 revolution. After that, some suggested that it should be demolished, since it was such a lugubrious monument. Gladly it was preserved and now houses the Portuguese Photography Institute.
