Some flowers

I know, I know, flowers again... But it is Summer, I'm on vacation, and they are everywhere!

And besides, it is the first time I post photos of flowers in square format...

How much is a bottle of Port worth?

The prices for the Port wine bottles on the window range from 9,95 to 245,00 euro! How to decide?

Well, whatever you decision, you will be paying too much. This is tourist trap and all the bottles are overpriced. The bright yellow labels should have made you suspicious. In Portugal, you will usually find the best deals on  regular supermarkets.

Samuel Lugassy

Still on the subject of finding the appropriate format for one's work, I would like to call your attention to the work of Samuel Lugassy (interviewed in the August 2010 issue of RĂ©ponses Photo). This portrait series was made with an external flash during the early dawn hours in Lithuania's country side. He used a full frame DSLR and cropped the images to 4:5 ratio. The camera's display was partially covered with black tape, so he could preview the photos in the intended format.

In my humble opinion, for this work the choice of format couldn't be better. Beautiful stuff.
