Perfect in the way you don't show the expected. Recalling my memories, I've probably seen thousands of photographs of insects on a stick in various degrees of perfection, slicing out the rare moment of stillness for the observer, but rendering the not-so-natural, as flies rarely seem to pose for more than seconds in a place.
And you show it in the way we so often see it but at least never found it captured like this. As I said: perfect.

I'm glad you enjoyed this image so much. I must confess that my original intention was to capture the fly siting on the stick, but I was too slow. In the end, I found the resulting image quite fascinating. Much better than if the fly had stayed still.

Frank, I was guessing a situation like what you describe - this probably happens to all photographers at least once. In the fact that you did look beyond the intention and that you rated the photo on what it shows and not what you intended, there lies your success - both for the photograph and yourself.
