Peach Tree Island

Olympus E-P2 + Panasonic Lumix 14/2.5

There are only a few small islands next to the Portuguese coast. This photo shows one of them, called Peach Tree Island, in the Southwestern coast. It once held a fort, built in the XVI century, for defence from pirate attacks.

The name does not came from the actual tree (pessegueiro, in Portuguese), but from the Latin piscatorius, meaning "related to fishing", since the island was used in Roman times for fish processing.
